Devi Raja
Strategy for leaders, organizations, and families navigating complex choices with purpose.
Ex–Bain • Kellogg MBA • Partner, Aim & Arrow Group • Professor, University of Chicago • Founder, Life Aligned
I help people and mission-driven organizations turn purpose into practice, make clear, intentional choices in complex environments, and find peace in the path they choose.
Organizational strategy & leadership
I’m a partner at Aim & Arrow, a boutique social impact consulting firm working with mission-driven organizations and cross-sector coalitions. My work focuses on organizational, coalition, and ecosystem strategy that helps leaders align around shared purpose and translate bold vision into durable systems.
Clarity for real life
Life Aligned is my second body of work: a systems-based framework that brings the same strategic discipline into personal and family life. It is for people who want to live with clarity, intention, and presence across work, home, and community—using structure not to mechanize life, but to make room for what matters most.
HOW I WORK
At the core of my work is a simple belief: what you choose to center shapes everything.
Strategy, at work and in life, is not about doing more, optimizing for its own sake, or managing complexity down. It is about aligning action with purpose. When priorities are clear and systems are well-designed, people and organizations gain the capacity to move with coherence, make meaningful trade-offs, and sustain what they are building.
I design strategy and systems so that institutions can remain true to their mission, leaders can act with integrity, and individuals can direct their time and attention toward what gives their work and their lives meaning.
This perspective guides everything I do: how I advise organizations, how I teach leaders, and how I design frameworks for life.

I care about strategy because it determines whether institutions actually serve human dignity: for staff, communities, families, and the people whose lives are shaped by their decisions. Strong strategy is not just about performance; it creates conditions in which people can live and work as whole human beings.
This is my primary professional practice.

About Me
I am a strategist by training and by instinct. My work sits at the intersection of leadership, systems, and meaning. Everything I do is shaped by one conviction: the more we want to be in the world, the more integration and coherence we need. Complexity does not resolve itself. What matters most has to be intentionally protected.
What I bring to the table
My advising is built on a solid foundation of over 15 years in management & strategy:
- Deep expertise in social impact strategy as a Partner at Aim & Arrow, working with hundreds of public, private, and nonprofit organizations on to align purpose, resources, and execution.
- Half my career at Bain & Company, with the top-tier management consulting chops that go with it
- Work and life on three continents, living the interplay of strategy, culture, and environment
- Teaching at the University of Chicago, where I translate social sector management into frameworks people can actually use
Across every context, my focus has been the same: designing structures that allow purpose and performance to reinforce one another. I do not offer hacks or surface tools. I bring the thinking that holds when the work is real.
The life that shaped my lens
This perspective was not formed in a vacuum. It was shaped by a life that demanded coherence.
- A lifelong commitment to community impact, beginning in high school and guiding my decisions since.
- A bicultural upbringing, which taught me early that default systems are not neutral and that holding more than one world at once requires intention about what you protect and make space for. And my Indian immigrant upbringing had me holding a lot.
-
Growing up immersed in art, music, and travel, which trained me to see possibility, to honor differences, and to approach problems with creativity as well as structure.
- Teaching at the University of Chicago, where I translate social sector management into frameworks people can actually use
- Three children, and the life in numbers (13 years married, 8 yrs pregnant/nursing, 5 moves, 3 houses, 1 renovation) that goes with them – tradeoffs are real!
- Not born organized, sometimes scattered, but developed strategy/systems lens to pursue a life as full as I wanted.

What I learned in my own life showed up again and again in my work. The people and organizations doing the most meaningful things were not struggling because they lacked commitment. They were struggling because complexity was crowding out what they cared about.
That is where my work lives: helping people and institutions bring coherence to what matters most, so their choices, systems, and structures actually support the life and impact they are trying to build.
My work is about helping people and institutions move through complexity with clarity, intention, and integrity.
If you’re here to understand my work, welcome.
If you’re here because you’re looking for support, I’m glad you found your way.
